This was a really accessible and comprehensive guide to children's mental well being that suggested a multitude of coping mechanisms, ways of understanding your thoughts, as well as knowing when to reach out to an adult for help。 In my own primary schooling we never touched on mental well being, which I now know to be more widely discussed, and I believe books like this can really open up space to talk about emotions as a child。 Setting the precedence that it is not essential to always be happy This was a really accessible and comprehensive guide to children's mental well being that suggested a multitude of coping mechanisms, ways of understanding your thoughts, as well as knowing when to reach out to an adult for help。 In my own primary schooling we never touched on mental well being, which I now know to be more widely discussed, and I believe books like this can really open up space to talk about emotions as a child。 Setting the precedence that it is not essential to always be happy validates the children's real experiences where they might not always feel the best, whilst also providing many ways they can help themselves, or ask to receive help。 It covers many different aspects of a child's life that may be causing them worry or stress which I find to be very helpful rather than statements or instructions that don't apply to examples。 A book like this normalises these feelings which will certainly help children feel that their emotions are valid and normal to experience, rather than internalising feelings so they become issues。 There is also a section at the back of the book to help guide parents in their own discussions which I thought was very encouraging to continue these conversations outside of a learning environment or the library where I found this myself。 I think this book would be appropriate for Key Stage 2 to read to grasp the language used as well as the topics, but to both KS1 and KS2 with an adult's guidance and additional support in understanding the content。 。。。more

A classic one! The type of book which I should have read when I was a child。

I think Molly Potter's books, which seek to help kids understand and process their emotions, are well written。 But I would rather read the books myself and apply the techniques with my kids, rather than read them to the kids。 I'm not sure how engaging they'll find the content, notwithstanding the colourful illustrations。 I think Molly Potter's books, which seek to help kids understand and process their emotions, are well written。 But I would rather read the books myself and apply the techniques with my kids, rather than read them to the kids。 I'm not sure how engaging they'll find the content, notwithstanding the colourful illustrations。 。。。more

Nearly impossible to read through BorrowBox on Kindle due to the small print。 I’m glad I didn’t have to pay to read it - or attempt to!

What's going on inside my head is a very helpful book for children all about mental health and positive relationships。 The book covers many aspects lots of children will experience including bullying, stress, arguments and friendships。 I would use this book to support a PSHE unit as there are lots of great explanations about why you feel certain ways and approaches which can help you to feel better such as meditation (and how to do it) and how to create and use an effective support system。 By tr What's going on inside my head is a very helpful book for children all about mental health and positive relationships。 The book covers many aspects lots of children will experience including bullying, stress, arguments and friendships。 I would use this book to support a PSHE unit as there are lots of great explanations about why you feel certain ways and approaches which can help you to feel better such as meditation (and how to do it) and how to create and use an effective support system。 By trying these techniques out in class, children are given the skills they need to use these approaches if they choose to when they need them。 This could also be a good book to read on a one-to-one basis with a child who is struggling with feeling positive or to recommend to a parent to use at home。 。。。more

I was really excited to buy this as interested in supporting children’s Mental health and well-being。 A lot of work and research has gone into this book。 The book is written directly for parents or care givers。 The language is encouraging parents into talking to their children how the children can learn coping Plans/strategies and better manage Uncomfortable feelings like ‘when your parents are arguing‘ 。。。 ‘ talk to someone about how you feel’ and ‘remember to think about all the things you lov I was really excited to buy this as interested in supporting children’s Mental health and well-being。 A lot of work and research has gone into this book。 The book is written directly for parents or care givers。 The language is encouraging parents into talking to their children how the children can learn coping Plans/strategies and better manage Uncomfortable feelings like ‘when your parents are arguing‘ 。。。 ‘ talk to someone about how you feel’ and ‘remember to think about all the things you love’ and other gaslighting coping plans。 Kids live with dysfunctional bullying parents and this book gaslights kids。 Be better if was starting conversations about how parenting behaviour is the most influential influences upon children’s mental well being and perhaps discuss how parenting behaviour effects children’s brains, from the good to average to poor emotionally intelligent parenting styles。 。。。more
